Jake Sucher is a Los Angeles based guitarist, composer, and educator. You can read an extensive interview with Voyage LA Magazine here.

He is the main compositional force behind the avant-jazz quartet Snow Nerds, whose debut album Gup Life was released on jazz label Orenda Records. Following the album’s release the band was voted the Deli LA’s Artist of the Month for July 2017.

"Snow Nerds has a bright, zippy sound and a warm sense of humor...[they] have an excellent rapport, and Sucher’s knotty melodies leave plenty of room for some excellent improvisation.
-Lee Rice Epstein, freejazzblog.org

Jake also performs regularly with surf-garage-rock band Bird Concerns and psychedelic kid-friendly rock group A Horse A Spoon A Bucket.

As a composer, Jake’s work for film was featured two years in a row at the CalArts film showcase at REDCAT in downtown Los Angeles. In 2015 Jake was invited to participate in an artist residency at No Lugar Arte Contemporaneo in Quito, Ecuador where he collaborated with artists from around the world and premiered original composition and sound design.

Originally from Chicago, Jake attended California Institute of the Arts Herb Albert School of Music where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies. He has studied with world-renowned musicians including Larry Koonse, David Roitstein, and Joe LaBarbera. Currently he is pursuing his Masters in Performer/Composer at CalArts.
